You’ve heard of cornmeal, a happy meal, an all-you-can-eat meal, oatmeal, and piecemeal, but what in the world do we mean when we say, “Feed the Hunger: It’s More Than a Meal”? Let’s stop and think about that for a moment.
The obvious part of our name tells you that our desire is to feed hunger (physical and spiritual). Simply put, we exist to glorify God by feeding the emptiness of those in need. Maybe it’s a severely malnourished three-year-old in Haiti, Jamaica, or Bangladesh. Or it could be a student here in the US who only needs food when school is out, like in the summer months or on the weekends. Regardless of the severity or location, we believe that the provision of nutritious meals answers our call to meet physical needs.
The second part of our identity is encapsulated in the tagline, “It’s More Than a Meal”. This indicates that Feed the Hunger, in accordance with the Spirit’s prompting, will help our partners support their ministry efforts in any way possible. It’s not a cookie-cutter approach, as every ministry and culture has differing needs when bringing the witness of God’s great love to a fallen world.
That might look like Bibles for the unreached in the Amazon, motorcycles in Nepal to access areas unreachable by bus, wells dug in Vietnam, self-support programs like goats in Haiti, or even shoes for children in the slums of Kenya (clockwise from top left).
It’s not our objective to define the “More Than a Meal” component of our ministry. To be honest, it’s not even ours to define. God has directed us as to how we should carry out His mission, and we trust that He will continue doing so according to His plan.
Thanks for helping provide a nutritious meal to more than 7,500 children daily in our programs around the world and to countless others across America. Your generous prayers and financial partnership have allowed us to improve the efficiency of our ministry partners by addressing their specific needs. It’s more than a meal indeed!
To God be the glory!
