Feed the Hunger had two opportunities this month to be the hands and feet of Jesus through our ministry partners. In both situations, flooding had disrupted the norm and created a crisis, but also opened a door to share God’s love.
After two feet of rain submerged various parts of South Carolina, we were able to respond through J.D. Smith and Citi Impact. We already partner with J.D. through food packing events, and now we could help by actually providing the food. Our beans and rice meal packets were integrated as the main course into thousands of hot meals for needy folks around Columbia, SC. It is a blessing to be a small part of the great work Citi Impact is doing in the aftermath of natural disasters.
On a Monday night earlier this month, a Bible study group from here in Graham, NC came to pack food. However, this wasn’t just any meal packing event. This small group connected us with Jennifer “Jungle Jen” Foster of Stand Out Ministries. She is a missionary in the Amazon of Brazil.
Earlier this year, there was record snow in the Andes Mountains, which led to historic flooding along the Amazon River. Especially hard-hit was the Sova people group. Previously unreached, now 90% have accepted Christ through the leading of the Holy Spirit following Jennifer’s initial contact with them. In December, Jennifer is returning to tell the Christmas story, hand out the meal packets made by the small group, and distribute Portuguese Bibles appropriate for each age and literacy level.
What a blessing it is to partner with people like J.D. and Jennifer, who are flooding the flooded areas with spiritual and practical expressions of God’s love. And it is a blessing to partner with you, as we watch how God utilizes your praying, giving, and going for His glory.
Serving with you,
