Statement of Faith
WE BELIEVE AND AFFIRM THAT…
- The Bible is the only inspired, infallible, authoritative Word of God. As such, it is indispensable in teaching and preaching, and is our only trustworthy guide for living.
- There is one God, eternally existent in the Persons of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
- The creation of the universe, the world and man was a direct act of God.
- Christology includes: the deity of the Lord Jesus Christ, His virgin birth, His sinless life, His miracles, His vicarious and atoning death through His shed blood on the cross, His bodily resurrection, His ascension to the right hand of the Father, His intercession for the saints, and His personal and physical return in power and great glory.
- Regeneration by the Holy Spirit is essential for the salvation of lost and sinful man. The power and gifts of the Holy Spirit are essential for effective living and faithful service.
- There will be a resurrection of both the saved and the lost–the saved unto the resurrection of life, and the lost unto the resurrection of damnation.
- The Church is the Body of Christ, consisting of everyone who has been born again of the Spirit of God, and is expressed through membership in both the universal church and the local church.
- The Holy Spirit is active today in the world to convict of sin, and to manifest Jesus to hungry hearts. He is also sanctifying His church by guiding believers into all truth, and bestowing spiritual gifts upon believers for the edification of the church.
- In the words of the Lausanne Covenant, we affirm that missions and evangelism are the priority of the Church. We believe that evangelism itself is the proclamation of the historical, Biblical Christ as Savior and Lord, with a view to persuading people to come to Him personally and so be reconciled to God. In issuing the Gospel invitation we have no liberty to conceal the cost of discipleship. Jesus still calls all who would follow Him to deny themselves, take up their cross, and identify themselves with His community. The results of evangelism include obedience to Christ, incorporation into His church and responsible service in the world.
- This statement of faith does not exhaust the extent of our beliefs. The Bible itself, as the inspired and infallible Word of God that speaks with final authority concerning truth, morality, and the proper conduct of mankind, is the sole and final source of all that we believe. For purposes of Feed the Hunger’s faith, doctrine, practice, policy, and discipline, our Board of Directors is Feed the Hunger’s final interpretive authority on the Bible’s meaning and application.
Statement on the Sanctity of Human Life
We believe that all human life is sacred and created by God in His image. Human life is of inestimable worth in all its dimensions, including pre-born babies, the aged, the physically or mentally challenged, and every other stage or condition from conception through natural death. We are therefore called to defend, protect, and value all human life. (Ps. 139)
Statement on Marriage, Gender, and Sexuality
- We believe that God wonderfully and immutably creates each person as male or female. These two distinct, complementary genders together reflect the image and nature of God. (Gen. 1:26-27) Rejection of one’s biological sex is a rejection of the image of God within that person.
- We believe that the term “marriage” has only one meaning: the uniting of one man and one woman in a single, exclusive union, as delineated in Scripture. (Gen. 2:18-25)
- We believe that God intends sexual intimacy to occur only between a man and a woman who are married to each other. (1 Cor. 6:18; 7:2-5; Heb. 13:4)
- We believe that God has commanded that no intimate sexual activity be engaged in outside of a marriage between a man and a woman.
- We believe that any form of sexual immorality (including adultery, fornication, homosexual behavior, bisexual conduct, bestiality, incest, and use of pornography) is sinful and offensive to God. (Matt. 15:18-20;1 Cor. 6:9-10)
- We believe that in order to preserve the function and integrity of Feed the Hunger as the local Body of Christ, and to provide a biblical role model to Feed the Hunger employees and the community, it is imperative that all persons employed by Feed the Hunger in any capacity agree to and abide by this Statement on Marriage, Gender, and Sexuality. (Matt. 5:16; Phil. 2:14-16; 1 Thess. 5:22)
- We believe that God offers redemption and restoration to all who confess and forsake their sin, seeking His mercy and forgiveness through Jesus Christ. (Acts 3:19-21; Rom. 10:9-10; 1 Cor. 6:9-11)
- We believe that every person must be afforded compassion, love, kindness, respect, and dignity. (Mark 12:28-31; Luke 6:31) Hateful and harassing behavior or attitudes directed toward any individual are to be repudiated and are not in accord with Scripture nor the doctrines of Feed the Hunger.
Code of Christian Conduct
All Christians are under obligation to seek to make the will of Christ supreme in our own lives and in human society. Means and methods used for the improvement of society and the establishment of righteousness among men can be truly and permanently helpful only when they are rooted in the regeneration of the individual by the saving grace of God in Jesus Christ. In the spirit of Christ, Christians should stand against racism, every form of greed, selfishness, and vice, and all forms of sexual immorality. We should work to provide for the orphaned, the needy, the abused, the aged, the helpless, and the sick. In order to promote these ends Christians should be ready to work with all men of good will in any good cause, always being careful to act in the spirit of love without compromising their loyalty to Christ and His truth.
Statement on Protecting FtH Integrity
Feed the Hunger is a Christian mission organization that does outreach in America and around the world. You can read more about the biblical values that guide us by reading the Organizational Statements above. We are devoted to spreading the love of Jesus, especially to at-risk children who need their basic hungers met (food, education, health, and spiritual growth). We help them regardless of who they are or what they believe.
Likewise, we welcome you to join this effort, no matter who you are or what you believe. Whether you desire to host a Packathon or participate in one, please help. However, this involvement is contingent upon one simple condition: your only motivation is to help needy kids through Feed the Hunger. This is the ONLY cause that will be promoted at a Packathon. Our food packing events are NOT a platform for any personal or corporate cause (unless there is written consent from Feed the Hunger).
