We recently received the following update written by one of our partners in Bangladesh and wanted to share it with you. I hope you are blessed by this story!
Mitu is a five-year-old girl from the Naogaon District living with her family. Her father is a day laborer and the only income source for the whole family. His monthly wages cannot cross over $31 (USD) any month. This is a very insufficient income for the whole family to survive properly.
Mitu’s father tries hard to earn for his family, and he also wants his children to get educated so that in the long run they can at least get a good job and survive better than now. The parents also feel the need to feed their children with proper nutritious food, but due to their low income, they cannot fulfill their desires.
A nourishing meal at school helps improve school attendance while allowing children to concentrate better during their class time. With the support of Feed the Hunger we are able to feed these children a fortified meal during school hours. It has improved the children’s school attendance and concentration on their studies.
We aim to end child hunger over the long term by diverting the critically undernourished children to a healthier life. Currently there are twenty-eight students in this school.
Our school is dedicated to children’s education and their well-being. We always try to ensure that the food served in the school program through Feed the Hunger is both nutritionally balanced and appealing for the children. Above all, the students are really enjoying this meal! Looking at their school records, we can see the impact of reforms to promote improving the healthiness of their food choices in school meal programs.”
Thank you for helping us feed more than 1,500 children like Mitu in Bangladesh. Lives are being changed because of you!
