When: September 17 and 18, 2020
Where: Holly Hill Mall & Business Center | 309 Huffman Mill Rd, Burlington, NC 27215
Total Meals to Pack: 200,000+
In 2017, Hurricane Harvey (Category 4) brought massive damage, and we deployed nearly 300,000 meals to southeast Texas. Last year, nearly 140,000 meals were sent after Tropical Storm Imelda dumped several feet of rain along the Texas-Louisiana border. Now, another Category 4 hurricane named Laura has struck this storm-weary region, primarily targeting Louisiana.
To adequately respond to this crisis, we really need your help. Our food supply is drastically depleted. Due to the pandemic, we have had food packing events canceled or postponed. Social distance packing results in half the food being packed in the same amount of time. And what has been packed is being given out three times faster than we’re producing it. Register below to help. Donations are not required, but we can only pack meals that are funded!
Given the unique situation of packing food during a pandemic, we’ve made a few important changes you should know about:
- All participants will have their temperature checked using a touchless infrared thermometer prior to entry.
- Personal protective equipment (mask, gloves, and hairnet) will be required for all participants to ensure the safety of the food and of those in attendance. We encourage you to bring your own mask if you have one. If you don’t have a mask, we will give you one.
- All participants will be required to fill out and sign a waiver of liability form (we’ll email it to you before the event). In order to speed up registration, we ask that you bring your signed form to the event. Copies will also be available at registration.
These changes may slow down registration, so please try to arrive 15 minutes before the shift begins. We look forward to your help packing nutritious meals for those struggling at this time. If you have any questions, please contact us at info@feedthehunger.org or call 888.772.9634.
