This post is addressed to Christians, not non-Christians. I don’t expect someone who hasn’t put their faith in Jesus to understand or agree with what I’m about to share. This is addressed to the millions of Americans who call themselves followers of Jesus, but have swallowed the blue pill for years. They are asleep to the “real world”, and instead are living comfortably and sleepily in the self-absorbed, media-saturated, wealthy elite-run and government-controlled reality called America as we know it today.
Many of you are figuratively drugged up and want to stay that way. Let’s face it – we all want our kids to experience the utopian upbringing we thought we had, a life free of worry and pain, one that was worthy of a Norman Rockwell painting. But this seems to come at the expense of ignoring the hunger and murder in our inner cities, muffling the cries of sex slaves, and drowning out the neighbor in need – right here in our own country, much less anywhere else in the world. Like one of the characters in The Matrix, we’d rather take the blue pill because “ignorance is bliss”.
I dare say that most believers here don’t know what exercising faith truly means. I feel I have only grasped it to a small degree compared to the many brothers and sisters in Christ that I have met and serve with around the world. They forsake everything for the sake of sharing the life-saving message of the Gospel. They trust God in ways that shame me. As John the Baptist said about Jesus, I am not even worthy to stoop down and untie the straps of their sandals.
