When my son was young and in grade school, I would wake him up each morning and push him along to get ready for school. I am not sure how it was for you and your household, but I always felt like I was in full-rush mode getting him ready. Each morning started off with breakfast, brushing teeth, getting dressed, and gathering up the bookbag. After all of this was done and before I took him to school we sat down and had devotions. Every day during his years in school, from pre-K to his senior year in high school, we read the Bible and prayed. During those years, I did have to travel out of the country a few times without him, but when morning came for him (whatever time that was for me) I would call him before school and pray. The one time in all those years when I was unable to contact him, I got a friend to pray with him before he left for school. That’s how important this time was to both of us.

I was so blessed to be able to read the Bible and pray with my son. I felt that it was and is extremely important to study the Scriptures and pray together with your children daily. If you aren’t doing it now, I hope that you will begin today. Children’s minds are desperately seeking to soak in the knowledge of Jesus Christ, and we are so fortunate to be able to share Him with them. It’s never too late!

Feed the Hunger seeks to do the same with ALL of the children we are feeding around the world. Through our many feeding programs, our partners are reaching out and teaching children how to read the Bible and pray. Many of the children do not have parents or someone who can read to them or pray with them, but our partners can help them learn and share with them the Good News of Jesus Christ.

Three weeks ago, 15-year-old Vincent got the opportunity to hear Scripture read to him. You see, for many years Vincent has been passed from relative to relative in hopes that someone had enough money to pay for him to attend school. Through the many years, he has only been able to attend school a couple of times due to lack of funds. But this time, Feed the Hunger’s Kenyan partner, Charles, who is headmaster at Nairobi Language Institute, met Vincent and his mother and shared with them that he can attend school on a regular basis. He shared with them that Vincent would receive a great education, a school uniform, and daily Feed the Hunger food. But do you know the most important thing Vincent is going to receive? Each day he is going to receive the Word of God. Wow! It doesn’t get any better than that!

For Feed the Hunger to be able to help Vincent and the thousands of other children like him, we must have your help. Will you join us in providing these children with food, an education, and the Good News of Jesus Christ? If you are reading the Bible and praying with your children or grandchildren now, then you know how important this is. It’s never too late!
